Interior minister orders investigation into death in detention

BAGHDAD — Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has directed the formation of an investigative committee to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of a suspect detained on drug charges in a Baghdad detention center.

According to a statement Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari has “ordered the establishment of an investigative committee to determine the circumstances of the death of a suspect, in accordance with Article 27 of the Drug Control Law, who was from Maysan Governorate, inside one of the detention facilities in the capital, Baghdad.”
