Sulaymaniyah’s Mali Muzik orchestra prepares for inaugural concert
SULAYMANIYAH — The Mali Muzik [House of Music] Orchestra, under the distinguished leadership of the acclaimed Iraqi Maestro Mustafa Abbas, is preparing for its premiere concert set to take place on Thursday and Friday in Sulaymaniyah. This landmark event will bring together 60 musicians and vocalists from various parts of Iraq for a unique collaborative performance.
Mustafa Abbas, who was born in Baghdad and has made Sulaymaniyah his home for the last 20 years, boasts a diverse musical background with expertise in playing both the violin and oud. His leadership roles have included directing the Sulaymaniyah Orchestra from 2006 to 2016, as well as engaging with several musical ensembles throughout Kurdistan. In 2020, he established the “Mali Music” orchestra.
In a conversation with 964media, Abbas expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming concerts on March 7th and 8th, highlighting the assembly of over 60 participants, including musicians and singers from across Iraq, ranging in age from 16 to 40.
The inaugural performance by the “House of Music” orchestra will also spotlight Kurdish musicians Hamid Bani and Kamran Mustafa. The concert aims not only to celebrate the accomplishments of these seasoned Kurdish performers but also to debut new musical compositions to the audience.
