Armenian president arrives in Baghdad on official visit

BAGHDAD – Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan arrived in Baghdad this evening, welcomed by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

The Iraqi Presidency announced that President Khachaturyan is on an official visit to the country. A formal reception ceremony is planned for tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Baghdad Palace, hosted by Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid.

Efforts to confirm the Armenian President’s potential visit to the Kurdistan Region through the spokesperson of the Kurdistan Regional Government and an official at the Kurdistan Region Presidency yielded no immediate responses.

At the Munich Security Conference on January 24, 2024, discussions were held between the President of the Kurdistan Region and the Prime Minister of Armenia about bolstering economic and trade relations, as per a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government.
