U.N. shares report on ISIS finances with Iraqi chief justice Faiq Zaidan

BAGHDAD – Iraq’s chief justice Faiq Zaidan received a report from the United Nations agency investigating crimes committed by ISIS on Monday, detailing the militant group’s finances between 2014 and 2017.

Zaidan met with Christian Richter, head of the UN Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da’esh/ISIL (UNITAD), and an accompanying delegation, according to a statement released by the Supreme Judicial Council.

The report came on International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and when Conducive to Terrorism – a day set by the U.N. General Assembly in 2023 to raise awareness about the threat of violent extremism.
