Workshop aids female photographers in telling better stories
Exhibition seeks to boost female representation in journalism, media
This week, the Framing Photojournalism School hosted a photo exhibition aimed at enhancing female representation in the media.
Titled “Khatun,” the event commenced with a discussion on the significance of women in media and their inclusion in decision-making roles.
In collaboration with Swedish photographers, the school conducted a workshop to train Kurdish and Iraqi women as photojournalists, marking a significant step towards increasing their presence in the media industry.
The exhibition showcases works by the first six participants of the training program, highlighting their journey and achievements.
Swedish photojournalist Anette Nantell, contributing to the initiative, emphasized the importance of helping female photographers become “better storytellers.” She remarked on the project’s significance, stating it’s “very important to be participating in.”
