Iraq’s electricity ministry launches digital billing app

BAGHDAD — The Ministry of Electricity announced Saturday the debut of an electronic bill payment system in Baghdad, enabling residents to pay their electricity bills online for a nominal fee not exceeding 1,000 Iraqi Dinars.

In a statement to Al-Iraqiya TV, observed by 964media, Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadel stated, “Following the government’s program and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s directives, the Ministry of Electricity has rolled out the electronic payment system for electricity bills. Initially available throughout Baghdad, there are plans to expand this service to all Iraqi provinces.”

He added, “Citizens can now settle their electricity bills from any location using any electronic card, eliminating the need to visit the electricity department. They will also receive immediate payment confirmation via phone notification. The service charge is minimal, not exceeding 1,000 Dinars, with a set fee structure.”
