Lifting a burden

Chamchamal rental service offers free table and chair rental to newlyweds

CHAMCHAMAL — In Chamchamal, a rental service has started offering tables and chairs free of charge to newly married couples. This unique offer kicked off a week ago and continues to draw attention.

Shwan Fazil, the entrepreneur behind the event rental service catering to weddings and funerals, explained to 964media the rationale behind this generous gesture: “With salary distributions delayed and many facing financial hardships, we wanted to make a small but meaningful contribution to those just starting their married lives.”

The absence of dedicated venues in Chamchamal means weddings and other celebrations are often held in municipal parks. While these spaces are free, the cost of renting necessary furnishings like tables and chairs typically falls to the individuals, adding a significant financial burden.

Over the past week, this initiative has already benefited nine couples, with more expected. “By Friday, we anticipate four more couples will have taken advantage of our offer,” Fazil remarked.

Considering the usual expenses for such rentals can soar to more than 300,000 Iraqi Dinars, excluding the costs of food and beverages, this initiative stands out as a noteworthy support for couples in Chamchamal.
