Over 240 million liters of fuel distributed to residents in the Kurdistan Region this winter

ERBIL — Residents of the Kurdistan Region received more than 240 million liters of fuel this winter, according to Erbil’s Ministry of Natural Resources.

Rebin Zangana, General Director at the ministry, announced that part of the fuel distributions were provided by the federal government and a further daily amount of more than 1.1 million liters are subsidized by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

As of January 31, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Halabja received approximately 96 million liters each, with Duhok receiving 50 million liters of fuel.

To date, over 1.2 million families reportedly have benefited from fuel subsidies, covering nearly 93% of residents in the region.

Of subsidies from the federal government, nearly 23 million liters have been sent to the Kurdish region with over 10 million liters sent to Erbil, nearly eight million liters to Duhok, and over five million liters to Sulaymaniyah and Halabja each.
