PM marks 9th anniversary of massacre

Sudani orders reconstruction of Kocho village in Sinjar

BAGHDAD, August 15 — Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani ordered the reconstruction of Kojo village in Sinjar on Tuesday, marking the ninth anniversary of the genocide committed by ISIS militants.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s press office read:

In conjunction with the ninth anniversary of the genocide committed by terrorist gangs against innocent civilians of the indigenous Yazidi group, and their invasion of the safe village of Kocho and its destruction, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani has directed the start of work to rebuild Kocho village. This is to provide justice to its honorable residents and as an expression of the government’s responsibility towards the people of our nation, with all their affiliations and identities, in their right to live in security and dignity.

May mercy be upon all the martyrs of Iraq, and shame and disgrace upon the criminal murderers.
