KRG higher education ministry launches entrepreneurship centres

ERBIL – The Ministry of Higher Education, in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the U.S., has launched entrepreneurship centers at higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region.

Abbas Akram, spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, told 964media, “In the project’s initial phase, several faculty members from universities in Kurdistan were trained by MIT experts. They are now tasked with rolling out the project.”

Akram noted that these centers aim to develop educational programs focused on boosting entrepreneurial skills at Kurdistan’s universities and incorporating them into the curriculum.

The centers are set to organize activities that promote the practical implementation of innovative ideas and the development of new business models, in collaboration with the private sector and industry.

The initiative is supported by the U.S. General Consulate in Erbil and represents a joint effort between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, IREX, and MIT.
