Iraqi national security advisor condemns U.S. strikes in Jurf al-Sakhar
BAGHDAD, 24 January — Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, has publicly condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes targeting positions in Al-Qaim and Jurf al-Sakhar. In a tweet, Al-Araji described these strikes as a blatant aggression and a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
Al-Araji’s tweet stated:
The targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces’ headquarters in Al-Qaim and Jurf al-Sakhar is an attack and a blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty. It does not contribute to de-escalation. The American side should press to stop the ongoing aggression on Gaza instead of targeting and bombing the headquarters of an Iraqi national institution.
