Turkish airstrikes hit villages in Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah

KIRKUK, December 27 — Turkish airstrikes hit the village of Saydani Khwaru in Kirkuk’s Qara Hanjir sub-district on Wednesday, following earlier strikes on the village of Tutaqal in Chamchamal. No casualties were reported.

Witnesses informed 964 that strikes hit a home in Saydani Khwaru earlier in the morning and again at 11:30 a.m., on the pretext that the building housed members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

A source from the Chamchamal police confirmed the incident to 964, stating, “There were bombings near the border of Saydani Khwaru, but we are uncertain about the location of the targets. These villages fall under Kirkuk administration.”

Earlier in the day, residents near Tutaqal reported the sound of bombardments, believed to be drone strikes. The bombings reportedly targeted a lake near the village.

Security forces were unable to access the scene, and an anonymous police source confirmed the incident to 964, stating, “We have not been able to reach the scene, and it remains uncertain whether the guerrillas were affected, but no civilians were harmed.”

A resident of Tutaqali informed 964 that villagers are on high alert, hearing aircraft and fearing potential further attacks in the area.
