Thunderstorms in the north as temperatures fall across central Iraq

BAGHDAD — Temperatures will fall several degrees across central Iraq and parts of the north on Monday, with thunderstorms and lightning possible in Duhok and northern Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.

The south stays close to Sunday’s levels by day before cooling noticeably overnight. Skies will be mostly clear with some cloud in the centre and south and partly cloudy in the north. Northwesterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will gust to about 45 km/h in the west, raising dust on exposed roads and cutting visibility to 4 to 6 km, before easing to 10 to 20 km/h in the evening.
