Five governorates at 46°C as heat rises again

BAGHDAD — Maysan, Najaf, Muthanna, Dhi Qar and Basra are forecast at 46°C on Thursday as temperatures rise across most of Iraq, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.

Babil is expected at 45°C, up four degrees on Wednesday, with Karbala, Diwaniyah and Wasit at 44°C and Baghdad at 43°C. Kirkuk is forecast at 41°C, three degrees up, while Erbil is at 37°C and Sulaymaniyah and Duhok at 36°C.

Skies will be generally clear with some cloud over the north. Winds will be light and variable at 5 to 10 km/h with calm periods, and visibility 8 to 10 km.
