Temperatures rise again with the south forecast at 47°C
BAGHDAD — Temperatures across Iraq will rise two to three degrees on Friday, with Basra, Maysan and Dhi Qar reaching 46°C to 47°C, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said.
Baghdad, Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala, Karbala and Anbar are forecast at 44°C to 45°C, and Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok at 41°C to 42°C. Skies will be clear, with milder conditions in the early morning and at night. Northwesterly winds in the centre and south are forecast at 20 to 30 km/h, with light variable winds of 5 to 10 km/h in the north, and visibility of 8 to 10 km.
Clear conditions continue on Saturday with some cloud over the east of northern Iraq, temperatures rising slightly in the north and south and holding in the centre, and again on Sunday with moderate westerly winds and a further slight rise. On Monday winds are expected to strengthen to about 40 km/h during the day, raising dust in parts of the south, with temperatures rising slightly in the centre and south. Tuesday will be mostly clear with cloud in the west, easing slightly in the north and rising a little in the south.
