Kurdistan Region forecast below 40°C on Wednesday

BAGHDAD — Skies will be mostly clear across Iraq on Tuesday with hot to very hot daytime conditions and temperatures close to Monday’s, the Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said, with the Kurdistan Region dropping below 40°C on Wednesday.

Erbil is forecast at 39°C on Wednesday and Sulaymaniyah and Duhok at 37°C, down two to four degrees on Monday. Some cloud may appear over western parts of the centre, with milder conditions in the early morning and at night.

Northwesterly winds will be light to moderate at 10 to 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h in eastern parts of the centre and south, which could raise light dust in desert areas and on outer roads. Visibility will be 8 to 10 km, falling to 5 to 7 km where dust is blowing.

Mostly clear conditions are expected through Aug. 22, with a slight dip on Wednesday, a modest rise in parts of the centre and north on Thursday, a slight increase nationwide on Friday and a further rise in the centre and south on Saturday.
