Mosul book fair continues through Saturday with focus on fiction
NINEVEH — Fiction titles are topping sales at the Mosul International Book Fair, held at the University of Mosul, with strong interest in both contemporary Iraqi literature and international classics.
Among the most sought-after books is “Over the Jumhuriya Bridge” by Iraqi author Shahad Al Rawi, alongside her earlier novel “The Baghdad Clock,” according to Kazem Abbas of Dar Al-Rafidain Printing House. He said readers are also looking for both fantasy and realist novels.
Ayman Saad Al-Din of Al-Mada Publishing said students are especially drawn to Iraqi novels, including works by Hassan Mutlak and Muhsin Al-Ramli.
Eyad Hassan of Nusus Publications noted that: “Student interest has been steady, and with university sessions ongoing, attendance remains good,” he said.
They said that turnout from students and families has been good, emphasizing that Nineveh needs more book fairs like this.
The book fair, which includes a mix of literary and academic titles in fields like law, medicine, and linguistics, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Saturday.
