Two killed, two injured in fuel tank explosion in Duhok district

DUHOK — Two young men were killed and two others injured late Sunday when a fuel tank exploded at a workshop in the Kawashi area of Simele district, Duhok governorate, local authorities said.

Bewar Abdulaziz, spokesperson for Duhok Civil Defense, told 964media, “Late last night, we were informed of a fire incident at a fuel workshop in Kawashi, which occurred while fuel was being transferred from a tanker into a transport vehicle, leading to an explosion.”

He said two individuals, identified as Masoud Hussein, 23, and Qaidar Dindar, 19, died in the blast. Two others were injured, one with burns over 85% of his body and another with 15%.

Kawashi lies within the administrative boundaries of Simele district in Duhok governorate.
