Five arrested in Garmian for string of motorcycle thefts
GARMIAN — Police in the Garmian autonomous administration of Sulaymaniyah governorate have arrested five suspects accused of stealing eight motorcycles in separate incidents across the Kifri subdistrict.
The arrests followed a report from a local resident who said his motorcycle was stolen from outside his home. According to a statement from Garmian police, officers reviewed surveillance footage and worked with Kifri’s Asayish forces to identify and apprehend two suspects, who later admitted to stealing five motorcycles.
In a separate investigation, three other suspects were detained and confessed to stealing three motorcycles over the past month.
Police said all suspects have been formally charged under Article 446 of the Penal Code and placed in detention. Several of the stolen motorcycles have been recovered, and the investigation remains ongoing.
