Naft Al-Basra secures back-to-back Iraqi Futsal League title

BASRA – In a thrilling final match of the Iraqi Futsal League on Monday, Naft Al-Basra Club clinched a decisive 3-1 victory over Al-Shorta Club, earning their second consecutive championship title.

Adnan Darjal, a prominent figure in Iraqi football and the president of the Football Federation, lauded the rising popularity of futsal over traditional football. “I have come to love this sport more than regular football,” Darjal said. He extended his congratulations to Naft Al-Basra for their league victory and praised Al-Shorta for their strong performance throughout the season.

Darjal also expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the league’s success, including the futsal committee, referees, and the media. “Honestly, I was distant from futsal, but after following the national team, I realized that this game is closer to me than regular football,” he told 964media.

Abbas Fadhil, coach of Naft Al-Basra, highlighted the challenges of defending the title. “Retaining the title is very difficult,” Fadhil said, noting that his team completed the season’s first and second stages and the playoffs undefeated.

“This is an achievement that belongs to the players who have been exceptional this season, and there were extraordinary efforts from the entire staff,” he added. Fadhil thanked the club’s fans for their unwavering support and looked forward to future successes. “Thank God we retained the title for the second time, and God willing, we will achieve the third next year,” he concluded.
