Man dies after falling from Mount Zozik in Soran
SORAN — A 45-year-old man lost his life after falling from Mount Zozik in the Soran Independent Administration, located in Erbil Governorate, on Thursday, despite extensive rescue efforts by Soran Civil Defense teams.
Rawand Hawdiyani, spokesperson for Soran Civil Defense, told 964media, “After our teams arrived at the scene, it was discovered that the man had already succumbed to his injuries.”
The incident occurred in a rugged area near the Ala Gawra peak of Mount Zozk. According to Karwan Mirawdali, Director of Soran Civil Defense, the victim was not a resident of the Kurdistan Region.
Hawdiyani explained that the terrain where the accident occurred was extremely challenging, which complicated the rescue operation. Although the man was initially found alive but severely injured, he succumbed to his injuries before rescue teams could evacuate him to safety.
Approximately 30 civil defense personnel participated in the rescue operation, facing difficult conditions in their efforts to recover the man’s body.
