Video: Clashes erupt between factions at “victory commanders” festival

BASRA, 5 January — A disturbance broke out today at the central ceremony in Basra commemorating the “Victory Commanders.” Qasem Solaimani and Abu Hahdi Al-Muhandis.

Videos circulating online and eyewitness accounts depict an unclear cause of the altercation within the festival, accompanied by heavy gunfire and ensuing chaos, with calls for calm emerging amidst the tumult.

A security source reported that the clash occurred between two factions participating in the festival, held in the Al-Tuwaisa area in the city center. The reasons behind the clash remain unknown. The source confirmed that several injuries resulted from the incident, with the wounded being evacuated to hospitals for treatment.
