Sulaymaniyah sees jump in solar power installations

SULAYMANIYAH, January 4 — An increasing number of Sulaymaniyah residents have embraced solar power, with 188 households installing panels in 2023, according to the Sulaymaniyah Directorate Electricity.

The directorate said demand is rising and the actual number of homes with solar power may be higher than those recorded.

Chalak Abdulkarim, an engineer and head of the directorate’s GIS department, highlighted the growing demand for solar power, adding that panels were installed at residences as well as commercial establishments.
