Officials meet in Erbil
National security advisor discusses cooperation with Kurdish Democratic Party leader
ERBIL, January 4 — National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji met with Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Masoud Barzani in Erbil on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region as well as management of the border with Iran.
Al-Araji’s office released a statement, which read:
Today, Wednesday, the National Security Advisor, Mr. Qasim Al-Araji, met with the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Mr. Masoud Barzani, in Erbil, in the presence of the Minister of Interior of the region, Mr. Rebar Ahmed.
The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on various national issues, in addition to discussing the continuation of cooperation between the Central Government and the region regarding the border file with neighboring Iran and issues of mutual interest.
Mr. Al-Araji emphasized that it is in Iraq’s interest for the region to be strong, emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts to implement the provisions of the ministerial program of Prime Minister Al-Sudani’s government, meeting the requirements of all Iraqis.
