Karbala governor orders removal of Christmas decorations

KARBALA, December 28 — Karbala Governor Nasif al-Khatabi has instructed the removal of Christmas trees and the prohibition of New Year celebrations throughout the governorate.

A video posted by the governor’s office shows al-Khatabi walking through the streets of Karbala, urging business owners to remove Christmas decorations. He warned that if establishments fail to comply, they will be closed for an entire month. Another inspection is planned on New Year’s Eve to ensure the streets remain free of celebratory displays.
