Patient rights units enhance care and foster positive interations with doctors in Erbil

ERBIL, December 28 — For over a year, the Patient Rights Unit has been in operation at Erbil Women and Maternity Teaching Hospital (EWMTH), catering to a minimum of five patients daily.

In line with Ministry of Health directives, such units are mandated to function in all hospitals and health centers, providing a platform for patients to seek advice, address concerns, make requests, and provide feedback.

Sabah Mirza, the head of the Patient’s Rights Unit at EWMTH, informed 964 that the unit has bolstered the relationship between patients and the hospital, offering an avenue for addressing concerns or seeking consultations.

Established in August 2022, the unit helps approximately five patients each day, with doctors and various hospital departments collaborating to ensure prompt responses and necessary actions for patient needs.
