Cabinet approves Baghdad metro project in 2023 investment budget

BAGHDAD, December 27 — Iraq’s Cabinet arroved a move on Tuesday to include the Baghdad Metro project in the 2023 Baghdad Municipality investment budget at a cost of 913 billion Iraqi dinars.

A statement from the Cabinet read:

As part of our directives to expedite the completion of delayed projects, including the Baghdad Metro, the Council has granted approval for the inclusion of the ‘Preparation of Designs and Supervision of the Implementation of the Baghdad Metro Project’ in the investment budget for the Baghdad Municipality for the year 2023. The total cost is set at 913,804,000,000 Iraqi dinars, after the completion of requirements by the Baghdad Municipality and the investor’s commitment to covering the entire project cost at a later stage.
