Over 126,000 trees planted in Erbil this year

ERBIL, December 25 — The Erbil parks authority has reported more than 126,000 trees and 84,000 flowers have been planted across 54 locations through a series of environmental initiatives.

Sarwar Waisi, spokesperson for Erbil Parks Engineering, shared with 964, “This year, our initiatives expanded beyond tree planting as we actively distributed trees to households and offices.”

Looking forward, Waisi expressed, “Our vision is to double the number of trees planted next year, with a commitment to expanding our impact beyond Erbil.”

According to the organization, green spaces cover 19.5 percent of Erbil, which hosts 450 parks and gardens.
