Disabled voter in Mosul shares his tragic past and hopes for future
MOSUL, December 18 — A disabled man was among voters casting their ballots in Mosul on Monday. Communicating with 964 using sign language, he expressed his optimism, signing, “We voted today and we will make a difference with our votes.”
Reflecting on the last decade in the city, he recounted the impact of ISIS, sharing the tragic loss of family members detained and killed. He also highlighted the challenges faced, noting, “When ISIS fighters came, they arrested my brothers and uncles and killed them all. I cried a lot. Our house collapsed, but no one has done anything for us yet.”
