Two arrested after fire destroys three trucks in Kalar

KALAR — Police arrested two people after a fire destroyed three trucks in a parking area in Kalar early Sunday, in what authorities said they suspect was arson, police and a witness said.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in a truck parking area in the Shahidan neighborhood. Hendrin Hamid, who witnessed the blaze, told 964media that residents were alerted during the night. “When we arrived, two trucks were already on fire, and the flames were spreading toward the other vehicles,” he said.

Garmian police spokesperson Col. Soran Mohammed Gharib told 964media that two suspects had been arrested, one of them related to the owner of one of the trucks, and that both are suspected of deliberately setting the vehicles on fire. The two are friends, police said, and the investigation is continuing.
