Three brothers killed in tribal clash over land dispute in Maysan

MAYSAN — Security forces imposed a security cordon west of Maysan governorate on Friday after a tribal clash over a land dispute left three brothers dead and two others injured, authorities said.

A security source told 964media that the fighting erupted between members of the Al-Maryan tribe in the Jazirat Al-Aaliya and Al-Tawila area, more than 50 kilometers from the district of Al-Maimouna, following a previous dispute. The three killed were brothers, while two others were wounded, including one of those accused of starting the clash.

A joint security force from Al-Maimouna Police Department backed by Iraqi Army units moved to the area immediately, imposing a cordon and blocking roads to prevent suspects from fleeing. Raid and search operations resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the seizure of a Kalashnikov rifle, a handgun and a vehicle used in the incident.
