PM Zaidi submits financial disclosure to Integrity Commission

BAGHDAD — Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi submitted a financial disclosure statement to Iraq’s Integrity Commission on Thursday, with his office saying he was the first member of his cabinet to comply with requirements under the Integrity Commission and Illicit Gains Law No. 30 of 2011.

Zaidi had previously instructed cabinet members to disclose their financial assets within one week of assuming office. His office described Thursday’s submission as part of efforts to reinforce transparency in governance.

Zaidi was approved as prime minister on May 14 after months of disputes within the Coordination Framework. Nine of the government’s 23 ministries remain unapproved after political parties failed to reach consensus during the confidence session. He took the constitutional oath on May 16 and declared economic reform, anti-corruption and improving public services as his government’s main priorities.
