Airstrike kills two PMF fighters, wounds four in Rutba as attacks continue

ANBAR — An airstrike on a Brigade 17 position in Rutba district, Anbar, killed two PMF fighters and wounded four others Tuesday afternoon, the PMF said, with footage showing smoke rising from the targeted checkpoint.

The strike at 2:30 p.m. follows earlier Tuesday strikes on PMF positions in Babil, Anbar and Nineveh that caused no casualties, and is the latest in a sustained wave of attacks on Iraqi security forces since the regional war began Feb. 28. Consecutive strikes on Habbaniyah base in Anbar last week killed 22 military personnel over two days, including the PMF Anbar operations commander. Neither the United States nor Israel has publicly claimed responsibility for any of the strikes.
