Iraq forecasts rain and rising temperatures in coming days

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority on Tuesday announced details of the weather forecast for the coming days, expecting scattered rainfall and a rise in temperatures.

The authority said in a statement that “tomorrow, Wednesday, the weather will be clear with some clouds, turning partly cloudy at night in general,” adding that temperatures will be “close to average in the central and southern regions and rise by a few degrees in the northern region.”

It added that maximum temperatures on Wednesday across Iraq’s governorates will be as follows: Duhok 16, Sulaymaniyah 17, Erbil 18, Nineveh and Kirkuk 20, Diyala, Salah al-Din and Anbar 23, Baghdad and Karbala 24, Wasit, Babil, Diwaniyah, Najaf and Maysan 25, Dhi Qar and Muthanna 26, and Basra 27.

The statement said that “on Thursday, the weather will be cloudy in general, with rainfall in the northern region and the western parts of the central region,” noting temperatures will “slightly decrease in the central region, remain close to average in the southern region, and rise slightly in the northern region.” Visibility will range between 8 to 10 kilometers, and between 5 to 7 kilometers during rainfall.

It added that “Friday’s weather will be generally cloudy, with scattered rain showers in the northern region, turning by evening to clear with some clouds across the country,” with temperatures expected to rise overall.

The authority said that “next Saturday, the weather will be partly cloudy in the central and southern regions, and clear with some clouds in the northern region, except for its eastern parts where it will be cloudy with scattered rain showers,” adding that temperatures will remain close to the previous day overall.
