Rain and thunderstorms to continue across Iraq through Eid holiday
BAGHDAD — Cloudy skies and rain will persist across Iraq through the Eid holiday period, the General Authority for Meteorology said Saturday, with Sunday forecast to bring moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms nationwide.
The authority attributed the conditions to a surface low-pressure system accompanied by an upper cold extension. Winds will be southeasterly, reaching up to 40 km/h at times. Temperatures will remain close to Saturday’s levels in central and northern areas, rising slightly in the south, with cold conditions during mornings and nights. Visibility will range between six and eight kilometers, dropping to three to five in areas of heavier rainfall.
Similar conditions are expected to persist over the coming days across central, southern and northern regions.
