Rain, thunderstorms and strong winds forecast across Iraq on Sunday

BAGHDAD — A low-pressure system moving in from the west will bring rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across much of Iraq on Sunday, the General Authority for Meteorology said.

Skies will range from partly cloudy to overcast, with light to moderate rain showers and periods of heavier rainfall possible. Hail is expected in some areas, particularly in central Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Temperatures will drop slightly from Saturday, with cold mornings and nights and moderate to cool daytime conditions. Southeasterly winds will reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, occasionally gusting to 50 km/h, with dust possible in central Iraq. Visibility is expected to range between six and eight kilometers, dropping to three to five kilometers in areas of heavy rain or dust.
