UAE condemns drone attack on its Erbil consulate, calls for investigation
ERBIL — The United Arab Emirates condemned a drone attack targeting its consulate in the Kurdistan Region on Tuesday, calling it a violation of international diplomatic norms and urging Iraqi and KRG authorities to investigate.
The UAE Foreign Ministry said the attack caused material damage but no injuries. It described the strike as a “blatant violation” of international law, citing the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and called it “a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional security and stability.”
The ministry called on Baghdad and Erbil to identify those responsible and “take all necessary measures to ensure they are held accountable.”
Debris from one of three explosive-laden drones intercepted by coalition forces over Erbil late Monday fell near the consulate, according to the Kurdistan Region’s Counter Terrorism Directorate. casualties.
