Drone crashes in Choman district center, damages homes and water network
ERBIL — A drone crashed in the center of Choman district in Erbil on Sunday, damaging several homes, a vehicle and the neighborhood’s water network, a local official said.
Ahmed Barzan Aliko, the district commissioner of Choman, told 964media the drone came down in the Beri Kosretan neighborhood with no casualties. Security forces and inspection teams arrived at the scene to examine the debris.
The incident is the latest in a sustained campaign of drone and missile attacks that has struck the Kurdistan Region more than 110 times since the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran began Feb. 28, hitting military and civilian infrastructure including Erbil International Airport, the U.S. consulate complex, hotels, energy facilities, telecommunications infrastructure and Iranian Kurdish opposition group headquarters. On Saturday night alone, attacks killed two people across Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
