IRGC strikes Camp Azadi in Koya for second time, hitting hospital and weapons depot
KOYA — Three drones and a missile struck Koya district early Tuesday, hitting Camp Azadi and a weapons storage facility belonging to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, local officials said.
Koya district commissioner Tariq Haidari told 964media that “two of them fell inside Camp Azadi, and one — the one seen in the video — struck a weapons storage facility of the Democratic Party.” He said one civilian was wounded with a minor, non-life-threatening injury.
The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said the IRGC used three drones and one missile in the attack and that the Azadi medical center was struck, with one member of the medical staff injured.
The PDKI described the strike as “a serious humanitarian and legal breach.” It said “the targeting of a hospital constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law,” noting that both civilians and medical facilities are protected under international law.
The attack is the second on Camp Azadi, which houses displaced Kurds from Iran’s Kurdish regions.
On Sunday evening, the IRGC launched drone attacks on camps belonging to Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in Koya, with Hengaw reporting simultaneous strikes on bases linked to the PDKI, the Kurdistan Freedom Party and the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.
The strikes are part of a broader pattern of attacks on the Kurdistan Region since U.S. and Israeli forces struck Iran on Saturday. Dozens of drones and missiles have been launched toward the region over four days, with attacks attributed to both the IRGC and Iran-aligned Iraqi armed factions targeting Erbil Harir Air Base, the U.S. Consulate and Iranian Kurdish opposition camps.
