Iraq forecasts stable weather with light rain in north

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s meteorological authority expects relatively stable weather across most of the country in the coming days, with partly clear to cloudy skies and chances of light to moderate rainfall in some northern areas, alongside minor fluctuations in temperatures.

The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring said Tuesday’s weather will be mostly clear with intermittent clouds, becoming denser at times in the northern region and bringing partially cloudy conditions. Dense morning fog is expected in limited parts of the north, gradually dissipating later in the day.

Temperatures are forecast to remain close to those recorded Monday across all regions. Conditions will be cold in the early morning and at night, with relatively moderate temperatures during daytime hours.

Winds in the central and southern regions will be northwesterly, light to moderate at speeds ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, except in western parts of the central region where they will be southeasterly and light to moderate. In the northern region, winds will be variable and calm at intervals. Horizontal visibility will range between 8 and 10 kilometers, decreasing in the morning to between 4 and 6 kilometers due to haze, and to less than 1 kilometer in foggy areas.

On Wednesday, the authority expects partly cloudy to cloudy conditions across central and northern regions, with light to moderate rainfall that may be thundery at times in the north. The southern region will see partly clear skies with some clouds. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly in the central region and remain similar in the north and south. Visibility will range between 6 and 8 kilometers, decreasing to between 3 and 5 kilometers in rainfall.

Thursday and Friday are forecast to bring mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions. Winds will be southeasterly, light to moderate, becoming northwesterly during the day on Friday. Temperatures will rise slightly before dropping a few degrees in central and northern areas by the end of the week, while remaining relatively steady in the south. Visibility is expected to range between 6 and 8 kilometers.

Saturday’s weather is expected to be mostly clear with some clouds in certain areas. Winds will be northwesterly and moderate. Temperatures will remain similar in central and southern regions and rise slightly in the north, with visibility between 6 and 8 kilometers.
