Clouds, light rain expected across Iraq this week with fluctuating temperatures

BAGHDAD — Iraq will see unsettled weather starting Monday, with clouds and chances of light rain, especially in northern areas, as temperatures remain cold in the morning and at night and fluctuate through the week, the General Authority for Meteorology said.

Monday will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate rain and heavier showers possible in the north. Light fog may form in eastern parts of the south before clearing.

Temperatures will rise 2 to 4 degrees Celsius from Sunday, with cold to very cold conditions at night and milder daytime hours. Winds will be southeasterly at 20 to 30 kilometers per hour, reaching 45 kilometers per hour in eastern areas and raising dust in desert regions. Western areas will see northwesterly winds that may raise dust and sand.

Visibility is forecast at 8 to 10 kilometers, dropping to 3 to 5 kilometers in morning haze and below 3 kilometers in fog-prone areas.

Tuesday will be partly cloudy, turning cloudy in the north with light rain in scattered areas. Temperatures will hold steady with visibility at 6 to 8 kilometers.

Wednesday calls for partly cloudy conditions, cloudy in the north with light rain. Temperatures will drop slightly.

Thursday will be clear with some clouds in central areas and partly cloudy in the north and south, turning cloudy with light rain in the north. Temperatures will rise slightly.

Friday will be partly cloudy, cloudy in the north with light rain. Temperatures will remain stable.
