Iraq forecasts clear skies in central, southern regions

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s General Authority for Meteorology forecast clear weather with some cloud cover across central and southern regions on Sunday, while northern areas are expected to see scattered clouds and intermittent light to moderate rainfall.

In its daily weather bulletin, the authority said conditions will be clear with the appearance of some clouds that increase at night in the central and southern regions. It added that the north will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather at times, with chances of light to moderate rain showers.

Temperatures are expected to be stable or slightly higher than Saturday in central and southern Iraq, while remaining near previous levels in the north.

The authority said cold conditions will prevail during the morning and night hours, with daytime temperatures described as cold across most regions, tending toward relative moderation in the southern region.

Winds will be south-easterly, light to moderate in speed, ranging between 10 and 20 kilometers per hour, becoming calm at times, according to the forecast.

Horizontal visibility is expected to range between 8 and 10 kilometers, decreasing at times to between 5 and 7 kilometers due to haze and elevated pollution levels during the morning hours.
