Man found dead in drainage canal north of Basra

BASRA — Security forces on Tuesday found the body of a man inside a drainage canal in a remote area of Az Zubair’s Ezzedine Saleem district, north of Basra governorate, and said he was killed a day earlier by his brother following a family dispute.

A security source told 964media that “after confirming the incident of a person being killed by his brother’s weapon in Ezzedine Saleem district, security forces began searching for the victim’s body as well as the perpetrator.”

The source said that “after intensive efforts, security forces were able to find the body in a drainage canal in a remote area of Al-Soura, with soil thrown over it,” adding that “the perpetrator remains at large as security forces continue attempts to apprehend him.”
