Soran tourism department reveals ambitious project in northern Erbil
ERBIL, November 9 — The Soran Tourism Department in northern Erbil governorate has unveiled plans for a major tourism project stretching from Gali Ali Beg to Bekhal, and connecting to the mountains north-east of Rawanduz, to become the largest tourism venture in the region.
Faisal Sadiq, Director of Soran Tourism, told 964, “The project is significant and strategic, directly supervised by the Prime Minister of Kurdistan, Masrour Barzani. Currently in the master planning stage, the official announcement will be made later. The project will not impact the nature of Gali Ali Beg Lake and is the first of its kind in this area.”
While Sadiq did not provide details about the project, other information suggests the venture will include the construction of a cable car network, hotels, motels, artificial lakes, adventure sports facilities, and long-distance walking trails.
