Cold weather and morning fog across Iraq
BAGHDAD– Iraq is experiencing partly cloudy skies with intervals of clear weather on Thursday, accompanied by morning fog of varying intensity, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology.
Forecasts indicate that cold conditions will persist in the coming days, with chances of rainfall and snowfall in the Kurdistan Region and slight fluctuations in temperature and wind through early next week.
The forecast report stated that today’s weather will be partly cloudy with periods of sunshine and scattered clouds in some areas. Moderate to dense fog is expected in parts of the northern and southern regions during morning hours, while light fog will cover other areas before gradually dissipating as the day progresses.
Temperatures will be similar to those recorded on Wednesday, with a slight drop in western parts of the country. The report noted that conditions will remain cold to very cold in the morning and at night, and cold during the day.
Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate, with speeds between 10 and 20 km/h, accompanied by slight fluctuations and calm periods in the northern region.
Horizontal visibility will range between 8 and 10 km but will decrease in the morning to between 2 and 4 km due to fog, and to less than 1 km in areas with dense fog, improving gradually later in the day.
