Arrest warrant issued against former head of Iraq border authority
BAGHDAD, November 8 — Iraq’s Integrity Commission announced an arrest warrant on Wednesday for the former head of the Border Crossings Authority for allowing the entry of goods and materials without inspection by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.
The Integrity Commission released a statement, which said:
The Commission’s Investigations Department announces the issuance of an arrest warrant against the former head of the Border Crossings Authority for deliberately committing acts that contravene the duties of his position.
The Department, discussing the case that the Commission has investigated and referred to the judiciary, reported that the Investigative Judge of the Karkh Second Investigative Court issued an arrest warrant against the former head of the Border Crossings Authority on charges of allowing the entry of goods and materials without the necessary inspection by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control. It also noted that the accused had instructed the border crossings directorates to release gods that had accumulated at the border crossings.
It further stated that the Investigative Judge of the Karkh Second Investigative Court issued the arrest warrant in accordance with the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 as amended.
