Warning against scams, Iraq’s National Security Service denies claims of hiring drive
BAGHDAD — Iraq’s National Security Service on Thursday denied reports circulating on media outlets and social platforms that the agency has opened hiring or is offering vacant positions.
Arshad al-Hakim, the service’s spokesperson, said the information “is not accurate at all,” adding that no official announcement on employment has been issued. He said any future positions “will be exclusively through the Federal Service Council and in accordance with approved legal procedures.”
In a statement titled The National Security Service clarifies the truth about the circulated appointments and warns of fraudulent entities, al-Hakim urged the public to rely on official sources and to be cautious of pages or groups claiming that applications are currently open. He called on citizens not to share any personal documents or information with such entities and to report them immediately through the National Security Service’s official platforms.
Social media posts this week circulated claims of upcoming government hiring, alleging 50 positions in the Central Bank, 50 positions in the National Security Service, and additional appointments for minority groups, along with messages suggesting that National Security Service jobs would be part of a third batch for top graduates and holders of advanced degrees, with interviews and screening to follow once an official application form is released.
