Iraq International Book Fair opens in Baghdad with focus on women’s contributions

BAGHDAD — Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan on Wednesday opened the sixth Iraq International Book Fair at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds, launching a 10-day cultural event that organizers say will bring more than 1 million titles to the capital.

The fair runs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 13 under the slogan “100 Iraqi N’s,” honoring what organizers described as “a hundred Iraqi women who contributed to building a century of awareness and creativity.”

Zidan toured the exhibition halls alongside Fakhri Karim, head of the Al-Mada Foundation, which organizes the event.

More than 450 Arab and international publishing houses are taking part, showcasing titles in Arabic and other languages, including hundreds of new releases for 2025, according to organizers.

Doors will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the fair.
