207 appeals against election results rejected so far, commission says
BAGHDAD – Iraq’s judiciary has rejected 207 appeals so far against the results of the Nov. 11 parliamentary elections, Independent High Electoral Commission spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai said Sunday.
Ghalai said IHEC received a total of 872 appeals challenging aspects of the 2025 vote. The commission announced final results last week, confirming turnout above 56 percent and publishing the distribution of all 329 parliamentary seats across Iraq’s 18 governorates.
Under the electoral timeline, IHEC had seven working days to respond to each challenge before the judicial panel. Ghalai said the commission has already submitted its replies, and the electoral judiciary is now issuing decisions on the appeals.
Once all challenges are resolved, the judicial panel will forward the final results to the Federal Supreme Court for ratification, the last step before convening the new parliament.
The 2025 parliamentary elections were held on Nov. 11, 2025.
