Residents hope more services to come

Streetlights installed in Al-Aziziya’s Al-Aruba neighborhood

WASIT, November 6 — Teams have installed streetlights in the Al-Aruba neighborhood, located in Al-Aziziya district in northern Wasit, where residents hope authorities will continue to provide essential services and address citizens’ complaints.

Ahmed Thamer, a resident of Al-Aruba, told 964, “Al-Aruba is an old area in Al-Aziziya district, established around the 1960s, and it has witnessed significant expansion over the years…we’ve suffered from a lack of services, and the winter season is tough on the residents. We used to impose a curfew on ourselves on rainy days to avoid the mud and water.”

“The area was paved about four years ago, and afterward, we requested the local government to complete the area’s services by providing street lighting, which has now been accomplished,” he added.

Thamer says residents feel happy about the streetlights. “Now we feel that our area is becoming more integrated in terms of services, and it provides the elements of decent living.”
